How I Got 2,000 Followers In Six Months + Giveaway!!!

Hey Everyone!!!

Following my last post, in which I’m running a giveaway in celebration of my six month blogging anniversary, a lot of you commented asking about how I reached 2,000 followers on my blog. Here we go:

I started my blog on July 27th, 2013 after being inspired by Beth from Polish Influenza. I had always wanted to start a fashion blog, however, I never really had the confidence to start; I always worried that no one would read it. I decided on the name “Adolescent Chic” due to my concentration on teen/young adult fashion and beauty trends. My following stats are as follows:

Total Followers: 2,100

(Before I start, I love all of my followers!!!)

Tip #1: Join a Blogging Network

This is definitely the main avenue that changed the amount of followers I had. When I originally started my blog, I had absolutely no fashion blog connections or relationships with other bloggers. This all changed when I joined the Independent Fashion Bloggers Network. Here, I met thousands (literally!) of different bloggers who shared the same love of fashion.

Tip #2: Be open to advice

One of the defining moments of my blogging career was after my Hanna Marin blogpost. One of my followers told me how much she loved my blog, but recommended that I include more pictures to balance the writing. After I took this advice, my followers grew exponentially! Make sure that you balance the amount of pictures with your writing!

Tip #3: Make Relationships with Fashion Companies

Now, most bloggers that I know are too shy to reach out to fashion companies due to their lack of followers. DO NOT BE AFRAID!!! If you never try and reach out, whether it be people or businesses, you’ll never get that ‘yes’. Companies that I have worked with over the last few months include:

Tip #4: Post Consistently + Social Media

The photo above can be found here. This is the fool proof method of gaining followers: blog on a consistent basis! I have seen time and time again male and female bloggers who blog less than twice a month who wonder why they lose followers. Followers become frustrated when you don’t update often, so find a realistic schedule to update your blog (I try to blog at least twice a week).

Along with this, keep your social media connections updated. I suggest opening a twitter account, Facebook page, Polyvore account and Pinterest Account for your blog.

Fashion Fanatic: Constance Billiard School For Girls Style Transformation

Hey Everyone!!!

Welcome to today’s special edition of Fashion Fanatic! This time, instead of showing my top 5 favorite outfits from a TV series, I will be showing the transformation in style of one of the most influential fictional high schools of all time: Constance Billiard School for Girls of Manhattan, NYC. In the same way that characters change and develop throughout a series, the style reflects that growth. Let’s take a trip down memory lane and look at these outfits:

Season 1 and 2: The Reign of Blair Waldorf – Preppy Chic

The photos above can be found here and here. All hail the original Queen B of Constance and all of the Upper East Side, Ms. Blair Waldorf. Blair exudes an endless amount of class and sophistication through her wardrobe. Her style was emulated through her minions, who wore variations of Blair’s wardrobe. The daily outfits included tights, midi heels, petticoats, printed trench coats, headbands and expensive handbags. This time period of CBSFG style can be described as classy, preppy and sophisticated.

Season 3 and 4: The Reign of Jenny Humphrey – Grungy Chic

The photos above can be found here and here. In the undying words of former queen Blair, say hello to the “Gothic Barbie”, Jenny Humphrey. Queen J completely revamped the original Constance style by incorporating a punk, grungy edge to the traditional silhouette. Jenny’s style concentrated on punk and gothic inspired pieces with a slight hint of sex appeal. The daily outfits included sheer tights, leather booties and jackets, loose ties and miniskirts. This time period of CBSFG style can be described as tough, edgy, sexy and punk.

Season 5 and 6: The Reign of Sage Spence – Boho Chic

The photo above can be found here. Finally, we welcome the Boho Beauty of the Upper East Side, Sage Spence. Unlike Jenny and Blair, Sage was not apart of the main cast for the earlier seasons, so we only got a minimal look into her character. However, from the short period we did have her, we saw that her style exudes a more relaxed feel than the former queens. The daily outfits included cardigans, jean jackets, airy fabrics, bulky jewelry and hats. This time period of CSFG can be described by earth tones, bohemian inspirations and airy fabrics.

My personal favorite CSFG style time period is:

Fragrance Frenzy: Laundry by Shelli Segal

Hey Everyone!!!

Welcome to another addition of Fragrance Frenzy! Today, I will be reviewing a perfume by a wonderful up-and-coming fashion designer: Laundry by Shelli Segal. This is definitely the most fresh, subtle scent that I have ever come across at the department store. This is the perfect scent for work, school and other professional events in which you want a delicate aroma that isn’t too strong. Here is the review:

The photo above can be found here with photography credits from Jeff Olso Foto. A fragrance set of Laundry by Shelli Segal costs $85.00 at Boscov’s. The product is described as a “sparkling floral scent featuring a blend of bursting fruits, fresh-cut flowers and exotic woods.” The photo above comes from a print campaign of the product, which shows a beautiful young woman wearing a structured min dress and peek-a-boo thigh highs. This minimalism of the clothing shows how simple this scent is, a perfect fragrance for everyday use. I would give the scent a 4.5/5.

The photo above can be found here. The packaging of the fragrance is quite simple with a curved, rectangular casing and medium pink cap. A bottle in the box set is 3.4 fl. oz. of product, and includes an additional travel set along with a lotion set. Sadly, I am not impressed by the actual packaging of the product, as it looks and feels quite cheap for such an expensive product. I give the packaging a 3/5.

The photo above can be found here. All in all, I would suggest this fragrance to any woman looking for a very subtle scent, as the product can be mistaken as a light body mist due to it’s scent. I would not recommend this scent for a night out, as it would most likely go unnoticed. I would have to give the lasting power of this fragrance a 4/5, as I noticed that it did not stay on the entire day. My final score for this fragrance is a 3.75-4.00 out of 5.
